How to prepare your CV
The following will help you prepare your CV:
- Prepare a detailed CV and a 2 page CV – to suit whatever is requested by a prospective employer.
- The format must be simple and easy to read.
- Personalise your covering letter to suit each position you apply for. i.e. bringing to the fore the skills and qualifications the company is looking for and why your experience would suit this position. A short paragraph is sufficient.
- For IT technical candidates a skills matrix is essential – listing all technical skills obtained, what period of time worked with, up until what date worked with, and rate yourself between 1 – 5. Be careful to rate 5 unless you are quite confident you know everything within this skill set. 4 is considered a good score.
