A well known retailer with 40 stores nationally, requires a senior Planning Manager, with a passion for data, analytics and of course retail. He/she would need the ability and experience to work on the following job requirements:
The main responsibility of the merchandise planning manager is to improve and maintain inventory and planning, usually by helping create sales plans and keeping on top of inventory and margins. They will often meet with other departments to collaborate on how to increase sales and to execute plans. They will need to be able to analyze sales data and graphs, as well as be able to understand business trends, calculate risks and opportunities as they arise. The merchandise planning manager may occasionally be asked to present their findings to the executive board. The ideal candidate must have had some team management experience, as they will be leading and guiding a small planning team.
This candidate needs to be able to collaborate and work together with various departments within the business, such as buying, finance and merchandising. To share business insights, with the aim to create a positive impact in order to drive consumer demand.
Merchandise Planning Manager Tasks
Monitor sales levels to identify sales opportunities and work with buying & marketing to predict future sales.
Meet financial objectives by working with the various departments to decide when to increase prices etc
Overall management of inventory & procurement plan
Track weekly sales performance and make adjustments to sales, forecast receipts and markdowns as needed
Provide Buyers with promotional forecast and marketing submissions
Order and manage inventory investments according to OT. Ensuring the right product arrives on time as required
Analyze store and distribution stock to ensure appropriate store replenishment and execute changes where necessary.
Develop financial plans with buyers to achieve the businesses annual sales and net margin goals
Lead monthly, quarterly, and seasonal reviews of the collections performance
Minimum 10 years experience in Planning specifically within furniture, homeware, toys or food retail environments.
Management experience in leading a small team
